Just a short postlette here to ask: what the HELL is wrong with Aoife?
Has she never heard of encouragement? Has she never heard of how to motivate people? Because we don't need to Ask Assumpta (who will be back next week) to know that the way to get people to fail at something is to actively discourage them.
Last night on Operation Transformation we saw incredible, inspiring weight loss. We saw people who stuck to the diet to the very limit of their abilities. Siobhan McKillen lost 8.5 pounds last week. EIGHT AND A HALF pounds. In a week. She has a horrendously busy lifestyle, small kids, a full time job and she didn't have time to plan her diet properly. But she did her absolute best - ditching the wine and doing her best to prepare evening meals on the diet plan.
"What's wrong with oven chips?" she wondered at one point as her children ran riot around her in the kitchen.
But that wasn't enough to stop our emotionally unintelligent dietitian from putting the boot in. Yes a good weight loss she conceded, but that was down to the wine. You didn't stick to the diet plan she told Siobhan - who responded bravely with lots of bleeped out responses.

There is so much about Operation Transformation and the way it treats the contestants that is so wrong. The public weigh ins are a modern version of stocks in the town square - we all get to shriek and squawk at the obese contestants in their horrible, degrading weigh in outfits. Is there really any need to put the men in cycling shorts like that? Is there any need for the women to have to wear those bra tops with everything hanging out?
At least OT have stopped dressing pin slim Katherine Thomas in an identical black outfit to highlight the wobbly difference.
And then we have Aoife. Sure she's the bad cop on the programme - we all get that. She's the Mr Nasty, the Simon Cowell, the Duncan Bannatyne of Operation Transformation. But she's no Dr Eva.
It's maybe time for Aoife to shut up, give praise where it's due and start encouraging a bit more. Yeah we know all about tough love - but again the dietitian on OT overdoes it.
