AH-MAZING! We might actually have a chance at getting into the top ten again - like when Jedward entered (the first time).
BREAKING! Nicky Byrne will be representing Ireland at the Eurovision next year.
— Ian Dempsey (@IanDempsey) January 7, 2016
We always see Nicky giving the results of the Irish Jury, so viewers across Europe will also be familiar with his face. They may also be familiar with his vocal prowess thanks to his work with little-known boyband Westlife. I mean, they're even talking about this breaking news in Belgium.

While Nicky would have made his name as the one you'd probably have a whirl off from Westlife, he has since carved a career for himself in RTE, with his own radio show alongside Jenny Greene. He also had that stint presenting the worst Lotto show known to man.

Unfortunately if Byrne is being fast tracked as our Irish entry for 2016, this means that we're not going to get that amazing Late Late show where we see the likes of Linda Martin squaring up to members of Aslan, while Marty Whelan sweats backstage...
A representative for RTE told the Independent: "RTÉ will be making an announcement regarding our selection process later this month - all details will appear on rte.ie in due course."
We wait with baited breath!
