As I sit watching Strictly on a Saturday night, I am impressed by the participants for two reasons.
First off, as the proud owner of two left feet and legs that are held together by pins, screws and darning needles, I'm a bit in awe of all the hard work that they put in to learning the steps and to keeping up the fitness level required to shimmy around like a mad thing.
But more than that I admire the courage that it takes to get up there in front of a room full of judges, professionals and people like me who can have a lot to say from the comfort of their armchairs.
I know I couldn't do it and I admire anyone who gets up and gives it a shot. Or a shimmy.
And this November 21, a jitterbug (I believe that's the collective noun for a group of dancing Irish celebs) will take to the floor in Dublin’s Convention Centre to show us their swiveling, swinging and stepping skills as they raise money for Breast Cancer Ireland.
Under the watchful eye of Nicky Byrne, this year’s line- up includes Norah Casey, TV3 presenters Elaine Crowley and Tommy Martin, ex-rugby international and commentator Shane Byrne, Fair City actors George McMahon (Mondo O’Connell) and Jenny Dixon (Kerri-Ann Boyle) as well as TV3 weatherman Deric Hartigan, RTE Weathergirl Helen Curran and Red Rock actor David Crowley.

Breast Cancer Ireland raises vital funding to support research into breast cancer and these celebs are working hard to fundraise for the charity.
And if the costumes are anything to go by, we're pretty excited to see Roisin Tierney Crowe and Stephen Kelly's Cha Cha (you can support them here if you like) because to be honest, a dress that sports both on trend fringing AND gold sequins is a winner in our sartorial book.
We wish every competitor the best of light footed luck. Hats off to their dedication and we hope that the event raises much needed funds for this worthy cause.
