So, weren't the Golden Globes beauty looks yet another snoregasm of play-it-safe?
Hollywood was evidentally awash with vats of nude lipgloss and lashings of black eyeliner last night - well, it was either that or every makeup artist in the land suddenly found their kits denuded of anything interesting that might provide some colour to an A-lister's face.
I blame Angelina Jolie - not content with stealing husbands and adopting everyone's childer, she's infected the rest of 'em with her beauty staple: nude lips, winged black liner. Sure, it's a classic look but c'mon, this is the red carpet. Drama, please! Even Helena Bonham Carter played it safe - I present the evidence above - though she did wear odd-coloured shoes, so maybe even she has limits.

Only a very few of 'em did anything even slightly brave and then it was just January Jones' mild red lip or Julia Stiles' faintly pink pout to give us a bit of a break from beige.
