With the 29th fast approaching and us ladies constantly and OH SO HUMOUROUSLY reminded that "it's the only day in four years you can ask him, WHAT!", which make all the unshaven hairs on my feminist legs bristle, Irish dating site Parship.ie have put together a survey on the accents we find the most attractive.
First things first, lets take a look at the celebrity figures:
- Saucepot Grainne Seoige is the 'sleb with the sexiest voice - 48.7% of male respondents said so
- Veteran Lawrence of Arabia actor Peter O'Toole got a whopping 33.3% of the vote from of Irish women who said he had the sexiest male celebrity voice
- Behind him were Ryan Tubridy with 26% and um ...
- Daithi O'Se on 23%
Sorry girls, Daithi is taken, so what about the rest of us mere mortals? The sexiest accent to own, apparently, is a Donegal one. Both sexes agree - 42% of women and 39% of men rated it. Dublin accents scored highly for intelligence - 44% of women insisting that Dubliners have the most intelligent sounding accent. A divisive decision, as Bill Cullen might say.

And if you're from Tipp, there's bad auld news afoot: only 4% of those who took the survey thought the county's natives were the most intelligent, with Kerry coming in second with 7%.
Parship.ie also determined through the course of what I am sure was a scientific and empirical survey (possibly conducted using Dublin-based female stockbrokers in Doheny and Nesbitts who only journey between the canals) that one in five Irish women believe accents are an important factor when choosing a partner.
What do you reckon? Load of codswallop or is there something in it? Lets have at it in the comments.
