Angelina Jolie's obviously been reading my mind. "Boring. You're so booooooooring", is what I think of her when I see her in some drapey frock. She's gorgeous, of course it goes without saying, but sartorially, she's a big fat nondescript yawn. Nice to see she made a slight bit of an effort for last night's Baftas so, and injected a shot of primary colour into her otherwise samey black dress. Makeup is as per: heavy winged liner, glossy nude beige lips.

Kate Winslet. Dress-wise, it seemed to extremely similar to the blue Narcisco Rodriguez she wore to the SAG awards. OK, a different neckline, but it had the exact same figure-hugging fit and fish-tail skirt. Makeup is a bit like Kate herself: demure, English Rose-like with understated nude pink lips. Prone to luvvie-ish crying at the drop of a hat too, I presume.
Fearne Cotton injects a small bit of rockstar glam with Hitchcock Blonde tresses and heavy eye makeup. And oh! Nude lips are the order of the day here too! What a surprise.

In fact, the more images I looked at, the more frantic I became for someone who'd worn something interesting on their face. Emma Watson (Hermione in Harry Potter) was very age-appropriate, which was great, and Frida Pinto and Thandie Newton were glowing and gorgeous, but very toned-down makeup-wise. Penelope Cruz sported a sharp fringe and heavy smokey eyes - but this is a regular look for her anyway.
This is a big, big night in the entertainment calendar. Where was the glam? The do-things-their-way? The I'm-not-scared-to-dare-to-be-different?
After much searching I chanced upon a snap of Marion Cotillard, who rocked a messy 'do and red red lips - and that, dear readers, was as OTT as it got. Shame. Perhaps when more images emerge, we'll see some more exciting beauty looks.
