If you were in love, and fans of Carrie Brownstein (of rock band Sleater-Kinney and brill TV show Portlandia) and at her book signing, you would chance your arm and ask her if she wouldn't mind marrying the pair of you in front of her assembled audience. Wouldn't you? Especially if Amy Poehler was there to bang out a few tunes on the piano and present some flowers. You'd have to ask, wouldn't you?
Rolling Stone reports that: "Carrie Brownstein's Los Angeles-area book event to promote her new autobiography turned into an impromptu wedding as the Sleater-Kinney rocker served as an officiant for two attendees. The Portlandia star is a licensed wedding officiant, so she obliged the two fans by bringing them onstage to say "I do." Amy Poehler - who was on hand to co-host the Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl discussion at Pasadena, California's Central Presbyterian Church - provided flowers to the couple as well as a church organ rendition of Greensleeves".
Indeed the audio is a bit rubbish, so this is what Brownstein had to say when marrying the couple: "All of us here are rooting for you. In the way that we always root for ourselves, in the way that we root for love to always win out over despair, for hope to win out over fear, for joy to win out over sorrow, we root for you in those ways... We root for the two of you to make each other feel the biggest, strongest, most special you ever felt."
