Irish celebs has better dust off their dancing shoes, as RTE have just announced they have acquired the rights to the world-renowned entertainment format Dancing with the Stars, the international version of the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The format has previously been licensed to over 50 countries including South Africa, India, New Zealand, Italy, USA and Columbia, and now its on its way here.
Adrian Lynch, Channel Controller, RTÉ One and RTÉ2 commented, "We are delighted to be bringing such a hugely popular format as Dancing with the Stars to RTÉ One. The show has been a global phenomenon, attracting huge audiences wherever it has aired and we are confident that Irish audiences will take this home-grown version to their hearts. Family entertainment shows are a cornerstone of what RTÉ One is all about."

The new format will be produced by Shinawil for RTÉ and will air in early 2017.
