Rumour has it Rebel Wilson is set to play Adele in a film, and Adele does not love it.
She joked with the crowd about it at one of her gigs, saying: "I've heard there are rumours about Rebel Wilson playing me in a movie – let's see if that turns out to be true. Just because I'm plus-sized doesn't mean she's playing me."
We get where she's coming from; Rebel Wilson doesn't even look like her and throwing around rumours based on size is insulting. Yes, Rebel Wilson is one of the comedy actresses du jour, and maybe she could do a good job at portraying the singer, but just because they are both smack bang in the middle of the public eye at the moment, and both are considered "plus size" does not mean they should be automatically connected.
I played an innocent dinner party game with friends one time, where we suggested who would play who in a movie. Of course, the perfect actress to play me was Barbara Streisand - and not because we both have amazing singing voices (she has, I don't). Our bond is our huge honkers, although Babs's is not nearly as mountainous as mine. But using that criteria, surely, say, Megan Fox should play me. We both have blue eyes. I think she'd do a good job.
