The ace Catherine Fulvio and Lilly Higgins share the same publisher with Beaut.ie - we're all lucky to be Gill and MacMillan authors and so part of the G&M family. That's why all of our books look so great!
And so it was last night that over a few wines and much gossip at the Irish Book Awards, Lilly and Catherine signed two copies each of their brand new (and absolutely brilliant) books for the Beaut.ies - and we have them to give away to four lucky readers. Yay!
GOSSIP: There was plenty of star spotting at the event I can tell you. Our heads were swiveling so much to catch a goo that my neck is sore this morning. There was Neil Jordan at the next table (who needs to make a trip to the dentist methinks - he spent the whole night picking his teeth); Caitlin Moran who the whole audience was seriously star crushing over and she didn't disappoint, Seamus Heaney who most deservedly won the Lifetime Achievement award and received a video congrats from non other than Bill Clinton, who revealed he had named his dog Seamus in honour of Mr Heaney. Cecila Ahern was sporting a new pixie crop - and she is looking fantastic, never seen a change of image suiting someone so well. A big shout out for our pal Anna Carey who won an award for her deadly book The Real Rebecca - we couldn't have been more delighted with this one.
There were bizzare Braveheart/Titanic musical tune interludes as the winners went to collect their awards which kept us in a state of hilarity. Michael D added to the gravitas of the whole night as he made his bilingual speech and commended Irish writing. And girls - Donnacha O'Callaghan was in the room. Oh yes he was. It was great fun and even though we didn't win we had an absolute blast - it was an honour to be nominated and be part of the whole thing.
