Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light: hydrate that stressed out skin

Recently I made what I reckon is a typical oily mistake of using products that were waaaaay too harsh for my skin. My latest attempt to banish what we'll politely call unsightly imperfections and areas of congestion left the poor old mush in an awful state. The sides of my nose went all tight, then flaky, and peel-y [it looked like I'd been blowing my nose for about a week straight, it was only just shy of being red raw] and my chin looked like I'd attacked it with a cheese grater. Mmm, attractive.

Since all my usual moisturisers are oil bustahs made for doing things like combating excess sebum production and reducing the appearance of pores, I reckoned that they just wouldn't be up to the task of intensively rehydrating my much maligned epidermis.

Lucky, then, that I had a shiny new tube of Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light to hand! Now, this here is not the sort of thing I'd usually go for. This here is the Aqualia moisturiser formulated for sensitive, dehydrated combination-to-oily skin and makes A Very Big Deal of how it provides 'fortifying and soothing 24 hour hydrating care' and 'restores skin's resilience and improves skin's defences' thanks to a combination of rare minerals and Vichy thermal spa water.

What with all that fluffy, look-after-your-skin talk, I was a bit iffy about how suitable it might really be for someone of my oiliness. However, as Kirstie pointed out when the range first appeared, hydration is something we all need. And since I was beginning to panic that my skin might never return to normal [well, as normal as normal could ever be for me, like] I slathered on the Aqualia like it was going out of fashion.

The moisturiser was instantly absorbed and left no nasty traces of greasiness or stickiness. It provided immediate and lasting comfort for my stressed out skin; I could practically hear it sighing with the relief. I used it initially at night and then also on a couple of mornings in place of my usual moisturiser.

It was a Godsend for helping my skin recover from the latest bout of 'die, oil, die!' madness and didn't cause me to break out or block my pores. While I personally prefer something that's going to mop up the auld t-zone and help keep me shine free for daytime, I'll be keeping this baby around to use in the evenings.

Oh, and it'll be handy to have just *incase* the urge to inadvertently feck up my skin should ever grasp me again.
