Kirstie asked the other day which products we buy over and over again, and one I constantly repurchase is Mitchum Roll-On Anti-Perspirant. Oh sure, I've had my dalliances with Driclor (it burns, it burns!) and Garnier Minerals (ok initially; I started to feel paranoid that it wasn't keeping wetness or odour my alluring glow at bay after a while) but always come back to my old Mitchum reliable in the end.
Still, I like me a bit of Vichy, so when they sent me their shiny new 24-Hour Dry Touch Deodorant Roll-On to try, I happily cast Mitch aside once more and took up with this gentler alternative. Formulated for sensitive and reactive skin that regularly sees the business end of a razor or waxing spatula, this is free from aluminium salts, alcohol, parabens, phenoxyethanol (oh goody, another ingredient to worry about) and colourants. Instead, it contains perlite, an ultra-absorbant volcanic material, to neutralise odours.
Perlite is five times more absorbent than talc, can absorb up to 350 times its own weight in water, and is also commonly used as a soil additive, fact fanz.

Now, Vichy 24-Hour Dry Touch is supposed to stop sweat from becoming malodorous without blocking perspiration, and I don't think I smelled malodorous while using it. Which can only be good. However, while I'd never exactly be mistaken for the bloke off the Lynx Dry ad with the gushing pits, I'm really not comfortable with any level of underarm dampness.
Oh Mitch, darling. Can you ever forgive me?
