Surprising love for long wear lipstick discovered: Estee Lauder, Maybelline Max Factor Lip Ink,

No one was more surprised than I to discover that I actually love long wear lipstick. I've avoided them for years because I remembered them as being tacky and drying with an uneven finish - and I just didn't like the feel of them at all.

But guess what? I've been giving them another go and they've really upped their game.

  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Lip Duo
  • MaybellineSuperstay 24 Hour Colour

These guys are cut from the same cloth: they both have two compartments of goo with seperate applicators.  On one end resides the colour stain and in the other lives a clear gloss or balm to go over the top, set the colour and add a bit of shine.  Painting the colour part on is easy, and the applicator is shaped so that getting good coverage is easy.  Drawing in the shape of your lips is okay - but if you want total precision use a lip liner first.  With both of these I never bothered with the clear side - I didn't like it.  Instead I popped a clearish lipgloss over the top.

These both stay put all day.  All day long, with none of that annoying flaking or uneven wearing off that I remembered from Products of Yore.  It's brilliant.  Through eating, drinking, mwah mwah kissing and all the rest, the only thing I had to reapply was my lipgloss and they didn't dry out my lips.  Thumbs up.

  • Max Factor Lipfinity Lip Tint

This was my favourite - I absolutely love this lip tint from Max Factor (€9.99).  It looks exactly like a felt tip marker and so it's really easy to draw round the shape of your lips with precision and then fill in the rest.  Lynnie tried this out too, and while she was lukewarm about it I'm on fire (eh, so to speak).  This baby lasts and last and gives a more subtle finish than the other long wear picks.  Use nothing over it if you want a matte finish: otherwise a slick of lipgloss over the top and you're good to go.

So I'm converted.  All of these lip thingies are good value too because they'll last for ages.

Have you been trying any of these kinds of lipsticks (there's a raft of them on the market at the moment)?  What did you think?
