It’s that time of year again … the time for clichés and budgets and timetables and parties and module-selection and early mornings and panda eyes and a million and one other things you won’t have a spare minute in the day to remember. Going back to college means striking the balance for that oh-so-elusive look of ‘I just woke up looking this naturally awesome’, as opposed to the more achievable ‘I just woke up. Full stop’.
I am of the firm belief that a beauty regime should be an enjoyable, albeit necessary, addition to your day. If you don’t have time on the roll from your bed to the lecture-hall to grab your massive makeup bag, a few of these stellar handbag staples will keep you looking ‘effortlessly’ preened.
If you have time for nothing else, your brows will never let you down. A well-shaped and defined eyebrow is the secret to looking groomed and awake, and gives structure to your entire face. In a mad dash to the bus, I often have to leave behind my favourite Benefit Brows A GoGo and Penneys Take a Brow sets. My nifty Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in hazel does the job fantastically though, with a handy tidying brush taming the brows that seem to wander across my face in the night.

I never bother with eyeshadow when I’m in a hurry, not least of all because I’ve lost countless beauties to cracking in the unplumbed depths of many a handbag. A bright eyeliner, such as No.7 Amazing Eyes Pencil in Leaf, does the job for me; I smudge it into my upper lid (with my finger, not the crappy sponge applicator) and line the outside of my lower lid, add a zip of Rimmel Glam Eyes Lash Flirt mascara and my eyes are finito.
I cheat a bit with lips and cheeks: I always keep a lip and cheek tint handy so as to kill two birds with one stone. The deathly pale, hungover look that graces most 9am lectures is soon banished with a combination of Smashbox O-Glow and caramel macchiato. Oh yes, I’m just that posh.
