Stinky La Rue: when products smell bad

When I read Kirstie's post yesterday about the new Cutex nail polish remover wipes it got me to thinking.

I have a couple of boxes of nail polish remover pads around the place cos they're handy. I know they're not the best things to use on your nails (full of acetone and chemicals) but needs must. However the worst thing is... they smell of sick. Honestly.

I find myself explaining them away to people who come into a room where I've just used them (in case they think I've just boked in a plant pot or something.)

When you think of all the steps a product must go through before it hits the shelves, it's truly mind boggling how a foul fragranced one is ever released. Dozens of people must have sat around and thought the smell of my nail polish remover pads were nice.

"A top note of vomit with lingering traces of bile. Mmmmmm" they must have said in internal memos recommending the immediate manufacture of said stink wipes.

The smell of a product is really all important - normally anything that whiffs even just a bit I fling into the bin - or give to a friend. The overpowering scent of aromatherapy oils in some organic products really makes my stomach churn too.

What smells turn you off? We had a Rate it on Smellies yonks ago - but we want to know, who is STILL not getting it right?
