Splurge Vs Steal: Clarins Vs Essence Brow Row

Everybody loves a good brow kit but not everyone can justify an expensive price tag! For my Splurge Vs Steal article today I've chosen to compare the Clarins Perfect Eyes & Brows Palette and the Essence Cosmetics How To Make Brows Wow Kit.

The Clarins Perfect Eyes & Brows Palette will set you back €42 at Boots nationwide but the Essence How To Make Brows Wow Kit comes in at just €7.49.

I applied Clarins on one eyebrow and Essence on the other just to show you guys the difference between both palettes. Besides the fact that Clarins comes with a stay put wax, a mini mascara wand and an evident (but not huge) difference in shadow pigmentation, both kits are very similar and to me do the same job.

I started with the Clarins Perfect Eyes & Brows Palette.

Step 1.

Comb through lashes with the mini mascara wand and guide them into the desired shape.

Step 2.

Use the mini tweezers to pluck any unruly strays.

Step 3.

Choose your desired colour from a selection of 3 and apply using the mini slanted brow brush.

Step 4.

Brush or comb some stay put wax through the brows to keep them in place all day.

Step 5.

Using the mini sponge applicator to apply some highlighter on your brow bone and voilà.

Moving on to my left brow, I used the Essence Cosmetics How To Make Brows Wow Kit.

This kit doesn't have a mini mascara wand or stay put wax but it is €34.51 cheaper than Clarins so we will have to make some sacrifices I guess. What I do love about this kit is that it comes with little instructions hidden behind the mirror and I think this is a great first time brow kit for someone who is just starting out.

Here you have the final result and apart from a teeny tiny colour difference in the shadow and the apparent look of wax on the right brow, both brows are similar and had I not pointed out the difference would anyone have noticed? And if you want to brush up on your brows, you can check out our 'Back to Basics with Brows' tutorial here.

I love both kids and don't prefer one over the other but it's nice to know that there's alternatives out there. What brow products do you all love? And who wins this brow battle?
