The biggest and best in the Irish festival is quickly coming upon us and with every shop in a hundred mile radius of Stradbally sold out of camping equipment and wet gear, there is only one more thing to prepare if you're planning a trip down to Laois this weekend.
We often speak about the importance of skincare and how essential it is to carefully remove your makeup each and every night. But we understand the lack of quality bathroom-with-fluffy-towels facilities at festivals and so here are our top tips to make sure your skin isn't left with a three-day hangover like the rest of you.
Our Skin Survival Guide is here to make sure that all of your hard work in sticking to a good skin care routine doesn't go out the window this weekend.
- Tip 1: Invest in a good SPF
I'm talking factor 50. Sun or no sun, UVA and UVB rays are strong. A high factor does not mean that you will be completely blocked from the sun; it refers to the amount of time your skin can be in the sun without burning. So when you have a long day out in the elements, wearing an SPF50 is really necessary. Yes, you may still get a light colour if the sun shines. Some foundations even contain SPF 30/50 but we still recommend using an additional sunscreen product even if your foundation contains SPF.

- Tip 2: Use hyaluronic acid
With the harsh elements (whether it be harsh winds, rain or sunshine) and possible drink or two, your skin will suffer from lack of moisture and dehydration. Hyaluronic acid will boost your skin and help to keep it hydrated. Our bodies naturally produce hyaluronic acid and it is found in a lot of beauty products. The reason being that this magic product can retain moisture which is perfect to help revitalize your skin and help it look younger, smoother and plumper.
Just make sure you get a festival ready version and not stored in glass or in packaging that makes it fiddly to use.
- Tip 3: Micellar water
This one-stop shop is super handy when it comes to makeup removal at festivals. Forget about queuing for communal bathrooms to wash your face, this Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water removes even waterproof makeup and impurities with no rinsing required, and it’s suitable even for dry, sensitive skin.
