There is a surprisingly high number of people with shampoo allergies in this country; possibly because the majority of the supermarket bought ones have a lot of sulfate in them, which is not generally good for the hair.
Sulfate was originally designed to eliminate grease - as in car grease - and then it started being added to shampoo, which strips the hair of literally everything, good and bad oil. This stripping causes the hair and scalp to be a lot more oily and requires you to have to wash it more often, and therefore, spend more money buying more shampoo. It's a vicious cycle driven by cosmetics companies.
Sometimes we don't even know we have an allergy, as the result can just be excessively greasy, or overly dry, or knotty and itchy.
However, Bioderma have recently launched the very first non-detergent fluid, and I tried it out last night to see what it was all about. The shampoo itself is liquid, so it reminded me of when you have no money left at the end of the month and you have to add water to your shampoo to get another few uses out of it (or is that just me?).
The liquid formula, which has been specifically designed for fragile scalps, was initially prescribed for people who suffer with itchiness, allergies, eczema, psoriasis or just exceptionally greasy hair which are indirect symptoms of an allergy to sulphate, silicone, and/or sodium laureth sulphate. This shampoo fluid has none of these ingredients and has been designed with a pH balance to that of your own scalp.
My hair is on the oily side of normal, and I usually wash it every second day; on the second day, I usually have to use a dry shampoo to make sure it looks less limp and lifeless as Cheryl so famously put it.

The shampoo fluid did lather up surprisingly well, and washed out really well, although we just moved house and our water pressure is a step up from a drip so I'm sure it would have washed out a lot faster if our pump had been sorted.
I gave it two shampoos and my hair was squeaking after. Always good. It blow-dried well too, and it's exceptionally shiny.
All in all, I'm a fan. I'll keep you updated on how I get on with continued use. Hopefully my hair will look like this:
