We like to support our own in this country, and time was, you couldn't walk down an Irish street without clocking at least a handful of Orla Kiely's patterned oilcloth bags swinging off shoulders. I'm actually not keen on those myself, but have found her prints to be uniformly cute and her homewears are gorgeous as well, so I pricked up my ears when I heard some news about the brand a couple of months ago.
September sees Kiely moving into the world of beauty with the launch of Orla Kiely Eau de Parfum, from €40-€69. Crisp top notes, white flowers and a base of musk, tonka bean and woody elements like cedar and sandalwood characterise it, along with individual notes of peach, green tea and rose. On paper, the scent sounds like something I'll like a lot - I've yet to sniff it myself - and the bottle is pretty to boot, showcasing her signature leaf pattern.
