New in Ireland is Madara, an EcoCert-certified Latvian line of organic skincare and cosmetics created by four women who just couldn't find products they wanted to use. It's a common refrain with organic and natural beauty buys, and it generally means the brand is invested with love, care, and a personal touch, too. That's great if you're turned off by mega-corp beauty companies and want to support small enterprise.
Simple, elegant packaging and ingredients like natural oils and Baltic plant extracts mark the line out, and it's good to see a naturals brand who are managing to merge stylish looks with an eco-conscience. I don't know about you lot, and hands up, this is superficial, but yes, I do like my products to look good, and far too many alt-brands just don't understand that, or refuse to buy into it.
I kinda feel they're loosing a chunk of their market that way, and then of course there's price. Many people would love to be buying natural, organic products created from sustainable sources in an ethical manner, but there's usually a large clanger waiting at the till. The cost. It can often seem unbelievable that something whipped up from carrier and essential oils can be so breathtakingly expensive, and that's another reason why Madara seems like a good prospect: the products are really affordable.
