Kiehl's is one of those brands that you'll find peeping out from many of our beaut.ie bathroom cabinets.
Whether it's the Overnight Biological Peel, the Midnight Recovery Concentrate or the soon to be released Micro-Blur Skin Perfector (we took a sneak peek at that last month), there is a lot of love for the skeleton man out there. I even paid Himself a visit a few weeks ago - there he is below, lookin' all coy and charming.
I'm tempted to segue into a terrible litany of skeleton jokes but I'll control myself and tell you all about Kiehl's new Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Wash instead.
Kiehl's Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner has been going since the 1960s and remains very popular, so it must be doing something right. The toner is formulated with hand-picked (not necessarily by golden haired children skipping through meadows but probably along those lines) flower petals that are derived from the Marigold flower and placed into each and every bottle by hand.
And joining its soothing ways is the new Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Wash which promises to cleanse deeply without stripping the skin of essential moisture. Available from July 2nd and retailing at €27, it ain't cheap and so I borrowed Himself's lab coat (I left him with those hipster spectacles though) and set about a set of stringent experiments (mainly involving washing my face) to test those claims.

The wash is a creamy gel formula that activates with water to create a rich, dense foam. I'll admit that the word 'foaming' set off a few alarm bells in my head because I hate that tight feeling you get after using some foaming products. But this one is soap-free and even my ridiculously sensitive skin felt gently, but thoroughly, cleansed.
That said my skin is on the dry side and I did miss the soothing feeling of an oil or gel - this cleanser is best suited to normal to oily skin types. It's non-comedogenic so won't clog pores and the bottle will last an age.
So I'm taking myself and my clean face out for dinner with Himself this evening - we'll be having the ribs. Sorry.
Are you a devotee of the Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner? If you are the proud owner of normal to oily skin, would you be tempted to give this cleanser a go? And what's the worst skeleton joke you know? To the comments!
