This newbie from the Balm is a need-to-have pencil - and the possibilities with it endless
A brown eye pencil is definitely an essential item in every makeup bag. It's one of the most versatile makeup items you can have. You can use it by itself to create a pretty smoky eye using just your fingers, one of my go-to makeup looks in a hurry. The old 'scribble all over you eyelid and smudge it out with your fingers' trick. You know the one.
Brown eye pencil also solves the "black or white in my waterline?" debate. As a makeup artist, it's a question I ask pretty much every single client ever. Do you wear black eye pencil in your water line or do you prefer white? It's rare I leave it bare because if there is any redness in your waterline, it leaves any eye makeup look looking a bit raw and unfinished.
Sometimes you might not want to wear black, for a daytime event, for instance. But, at the same, time it makes it look that bit more sultry and finished. The answer? Brown eyeliner. It's just not as harsh as black but it still finishes your eye shadow look and gives you an all-round frame for your eyes.

We have named our top three brown eye pencils before. But now Mr Write 'Seymour Loveletters' has showed up and needs to join the list of favourites. It's a beautiful bronze-brown with a subtle shimmer. It will make for a beautiful smoked out eye shadow too (make sure to make a good base for it to stick to) and it really is a gorgeous water line colour.
It also has a really soft and buttery texture when you apply it. The soft texture makes it good for using along your top lid without pulling the skin and it's suitable for sensitive eyes. We love!
