Nars' summer lineup is available online now and will land on counter at Brown Thomas Dublin at the start of May. There are lots of contrasts here - green eyes and coral lips immediately caught my brights-loving eye, and here's the inspiration:
The Summer 2011 Collection is a range of warm, sophisticated, shimmering shades, punctuated with shots of vivid, nature-defying color. Eyes are washed in icy sea foam, silver-green and frozen turquoise. Lips are infused with mandarin orange gloss and hot pink matte color.
I'm heading to check it out at a meeting with David Scheffen, Nars makeup stylist (makeup stylist, if you don't mind) on the 5th. Hopefully I'll get some stuff to swatch and sample and will duly report back in pictorial fashint if so. Right now though, here's a look at what's gonna be joining the lineup for summer:
The Cap Ferrat shadow trio, €42. We saw the Calanque and Okinawa trios in the last two collections but the three shades in each were blended together for a Rothco-alike effect. With Cap Ferrat, Nars goes back to a more traditional presentation of separating out the colours. Shades are icy sea foam, silver green and icy turquoise.
Lets have a gander at some more shadows, shall we? Nars' shadow duos are always excellently executed and balanced. They sometimes look oddly juxtaposed - but try the shades together, they ALWAYS work. The top duo is Dogon, and on the bottom we're looking at Exotic Dance. Each is €34, and apologies for pic quality here - I was working from a PDF as opposed to high res shots, so they're not as high-quality as I'd like.

This is New Order Highlighting Blush, €29. It's billed as "a soft pink blush, with gold and silver shimmer" that "highlights cheeks with the softest hint of radiant color." Interested. Oh yes. Interest is piqued.
Yum. Oh, just yum. This quad of lip colours couldn't be more up my street if it tried. Cheers Francois! From left to right we've got Carthage, €26, a hot pink matte lipstick. This is definitely on my list for summer. Beside it is lipstick in Mayflower, €25. It's a sheer raspberry with a shimmer finish. It's joined by Wonder, €25, a shiny, sheer mandarin orange lip gloss ith pink and gold shimmer. WANT. NEED. MUST HAVE! Last up then is a Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bolero, €25, which is described as a 'pink canteloupe'.
That's not all - we've a few more colour pops to come, peeps.
Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Queen, €21, is "a majestic and modern citrus gold glitter" apparently, and can be called into play as a liner, a highlighter or a base for powder shadows.

Last up in Nars' summer lineup are two nail polishes. E?cume is designed to take you back to the days when you Tippexed nails thanks to an opaque formulation. Vintage-inspired and avant-garde in sensibility, apparently. It's joined by Kismet, a take on this season's must-have shade, yellow. Metallic sunflower is Francois Nars' take on the trend, and both these lacquers will cost €18.
