Michael Kors is a high-end brand that we're all familiar with, and it is rather exciting that they launched their first Irish cosmetics concession at Arnotts this week.
I'm guilty, however, of giving in to my own misconceptions. I didn't think that I'd be able to relate to this brand AT ALL. When I think of Michael Kors, I think of eight foot tall bronzed Amazonian model-cum-athletes with obscenely long legs. Honestly, I thought that a short, pasty young wan like myself wouldn't fit the brand.
But there's good news! The collections cater for every kind of woman. And I'm delighted because I fit that demographic, and so do you! I was super impressed by the luxe packaging (it has all of the golden, luxuriant 'clunk' of YSL packaging but costs less) and also by the quality of the products.
The collection is starting small - consisting of three capsule makeup 'wardrobes' to suit your various moods. So there's the effortlessly casual and chic Sporty nude collection, the oh so perfect for Christmas parties Sexy collection, and the vampy Glam collection, which provides you with all the evening drama you could ask for.
The products are all available individually, but they're beautifully coordinated with the other products in their collection. Each collection features two nail colours (€20 each) , a semi-sheer lipstick (€30.50) and lip gloss (€27.50) , a bronzer (€45) and a scent (€53 for 30mls). The scents are the real surprise in this collection for me - they're really beautiful, grown up and feminine. I don't think 'perfume' when I think of Michael Kors, but I certainly will from now on. I've been wearing the Sexy Amber scent, and I'm very much enjoying smelling like a grown up lady.

Since the hallmark of Michael Kors is sunkissed skin, the bronzers are enormous, beautiful, and come in divine packaging which is sturdy enough to use in the defence of your home against intruders. Three shades are available to cater to several skin tones.
There's also a beautiful body cream and bath beads which ensure that you come out of the bath with glowing skin, and my personal favourite body product, the Liquid Shimmer Dry Oil Spray (€54). It looks like a sort of magical elixir in the bottle - you can spray it on the body for glowing skin with a hint of light reflection. This will look best on tanned and deep skin tones.
Since Michael Kors is such a bronze skin oriented brand, they're already preparing for summer with a self tanner, after sun gel, and an utterly beautiful after sun lip balm that is packed with subtle glitter.
Considering the quality, Michael Kors cosmetics are really giving pricier brands like YSL and Chanel some competition. If you're looking for a luxurious, beautifully scented (everything in the range smells divine) and grown up gift at a price that isn't extortionate this Christmas, I'd recommend heading over to Arnotts at once before all the lovely things are gone!
