Mixing textures is a cool way to change up your makeup. Glossy eyes and matte lips will work really well together for your St Stephen's Day makeup.
Too much of anything is usually not good. The key to this makeup look is using different textures on different areas of the face. So not too much of any one thing. You don't want to overdo the gloss but at the same time, too much matte can be flat and boring. When you mix the two textures and wear them together they really compliment each other. We think glossy eyes and matte lips would be a cool makeup look to wear for your St Stephen's Day party.
Wearing gloss on your eyes might sound utterly ridiculous to you. Gloss is for lips, right? Well, technically, yes, that's what it was originally intended for. But I believe there are no rules in makeup. I love to mix it up by putting products on areas of the face that they maybe weren't intended for. In fact, you will find that most makeup products can actually be used on all areas of the face. You don't have to use actual lipgloss on your eyes - but you can. You will also find multi-use gloss that is actually for using all over the face. Just a dab in the centre of the lid brings a whole new dimension to any eyeshadow look.
Pair your glossy eyeshadow look with a matte lip to create the contrast. Glossy eyes and glossy lips would just be too much. You could end up looking like a greaseball. The flat matte lip compliments your glossy eyes so that it's not all too much. Be prepared, gloss on your eyes feels weird but it's worth it for the really cool effect. To make the look practical and wearable just dab a small amount in the centre of your eyelid on top of your eyeshadow. If you use too much it won't last the night and it will smudge too much.
