First things first, the name of this product irks me, so we were off to a very bad start.
It’s not a BB cream: slapping that name on the tube is just adding to the general confusion around that category of products. There are no skincare benefits, there is no SPF, it’s just a cheek colour.
But sure lookit, Bourjois kinda did this too with their Healthy Mix blush, so we'll give L'Oreal a break. And I do like the concept of this stuff.
It sounds remarkably similar to Smashbox O-Glow – a transparent blush that turns pink when blended onto the skin, reacting with your natural PH levels for a radiant, rosy effect.
But there’s a problem.

The 'universal' moniker? It’s just not true. I have light-to-medium skin and this doesn’t show up on me at all.
Oh, it swatched nicely on my hand, but on my face? Once you blend, it fades away to nothing at all. This would be undetectable on all but the milk-bottle-white – but hey, there are enough of you out there, especially on Irish shores!
Except wait, there’s another problem too.
I hate the way this feels. It’s a silicone based gel, which is fine, except it feels like a gel on your skin – damp, and sort of slimy to the touch.
So that’s three strikes - and for those reasons, I’m out. Much like Revlon’s Baby Stick, for me, this is a great idea that just doesn’t work in execution.
But that’s just my opinion. Maybe you’ve tried this, and got on better with it yourself? Tell us all about it in the comments!
