Kiehl's Double Strength Deep Wrinkle Filler

kiehl's Derm-Deep Wrinkle Filler

The sales assistant was very diplomatic when she gave me samples of this new Kiehl's product. I had purchased another anti-ageing product from the brand's super-serious Dermatologist Solutions line, so I can take comfort in the fact that she didn't just randomly decide by looking at me that I needed the rather hardcore-sounding Double Strength Deep Wrinkle Filler. "This is a product you could use if you had any lines you were concerned about", she explained as she dropped the samples in my bag, all very hypothetical, like.

Now, I don't know if I'd classify them as "deep wrinkles" just yet, but the honest truth is that I do have laughter lines around my eyes that I'm not too fond of. And when I read into this product and what it does a bit more, I thought I should probably give it a try.

Double Strength Deep Wrinkle Filler differs from many other fillers on the market at the moment in using hyaluronic acid instead of silicones. Silicone-based products don't agree with my skin at all, causing it to break out in tiny whiteheads, so I avoid them like the plague. Hyaluronic acid, on the other hand, really helps to hydrate my skin without irritating it at all.

This has both short and long-term effects on the skin. On application, the very sci-fi-sounding hyaluronic filling spheres help to bind large quantities of water in the upper layers of the skin and swell in contact with water, visibly filling out wrinkles and firming the skin. In addition, tensor polymers have an immediate firming and tightening effect and silica particles reduce light reflection to make the skin look smoother.

With prolonged use, a lightweight form of hyaluronic acid (known as fragmented hyaluronic acid) penetrates the skin at a deeper level to improve deep lines and increase skin elasticity. Peptides also present in the product work to stimulate the synthesis of elastin, plumping the skin and giving a more defined look.

I have been using this for five days at this point and I can already report that there is a definite improvement in the areas where I have been applying it. The skin is visibly smoother and firmer, so while the lines themselves haven't disappeared, they aren't as noticeable and my eye area looks generally fresher and more rested. It's certainly enough of an improvement to encourage me to continue to use up my sample packets and also purchase this if I remain as happy with the results.

Double Strength Deep Wrinkle Filler is fragrance-free and is also free of parabens and I haven't experienced any sensitivity when using it. A small amount of the white gel-cream is all that's needed and it sinks in immediately with no negative impact on makeup application. At the price point I think this is certainly an attractive option for anyone concerned about the appearance of lines and anxious to avoid anything that could potentially have a harsh impact on their skin. Available now at Kiehl's, it costs €36.
