Instant Glow Gurus Sally Hansen's New Instant Tan

One of my legs smells like holidays! Or rather, smelled, because I've washed the fake tan off. That gradual tan smell, you know the type of one from Dove (Summer Glow) or Johnsons (Holiday Skin) that's a mixture between strong sun cream and ye old familiar biscuit, it always reminds me of my J1 summer in the States.

Thousands of students descended on San Diego that year and you could identify all of us as Irish because of how ghostly we all were. Except me. I arrived with a golden glow courtesy of Dove. (I returned to Ireland lobster red and everyone else had perfect natural tans but there's no need to get into that.)

So, the news is, the brand we all know and love for that quick tan fix has brought out their own gradual tanning lotion. It's pretty much the same idea as other tanners of this ilk - it's like a tinted body lotion - except you can see instant results. This makes it much easier to apply evenly. I applied it with a mitt and it went on smoothly, without streaks and dried in minutes.

Sally tells us that one of the benefits of Airbrush Sun is that it's transfer resistant, which it is. Because it dried so quickly it didn't have time to stain anything.

Especially for you, I did a test and only applied on one leg. See the difference below!

I let the tan settle in and do its thing over night and washed it off in the morning and I'm pleased to report that it stayed pretty much the same colour. You can keep on layering to build up the depth of tan you want but since I only ever want a light glow I left it at that.

I did it a disservice by implying above that the scent is like other gradual tans. It does have a smell but it's not as offensive as other tan smells and it fades away once you wash it off.

It doesn't feel greasy, it feels like a nice body cream, it contains shea butter to leave you skin feeling nice and soft. Since it's Sally Hansen it has the airbrush tag stuck onto it but sadly it isn't as effective as covering blemishes and imperfections as our beloved Airbrush Legs

I was at first a bit irked to learn that Airbrush Sun only comes in one shade - Medium to Tan but it's not really an issue since one application is quite light. Airbrush Sun retails at €11.99 and is available in pharmacies nationwide now.

Will this replace my Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs spray? Probably not but only because I can't deal with tan smells no matter how subtle they are. However, if I manage to go on a sun holiday this year this is definitely what I'll bring; it's the easiest, quickest most hassle-free tan I've used. Will you give it a go?
