Hairstyles for dirty OR squeaky clean hair that you can do with a spritz and a spray of dry shampoo
Dry shampoo is a hairstyle saviour. When you wake up late with no time to wash your hair, it's dry shampoo to the rescue. When you take a hat off, and your hair is flat AF, dry shampoo will lift it. When your hair won't hold a curl - ok, you get the picture.
It's easy to use, but you do need to know some things before going ahead and turning your hair into a Halloween Banshee wig.
- Don't spray too close to the roots. Ten inches or so is perfect
- Don't add too much, as it could cause your hair to look dull. Do as you would with makeup, and build up as you need
- Don't go hell for leather straight away. The product will need a couple of minutes to settle before you do your thing
- Don't just do your parting line. Lift your hair and spray underneath. Turn your head upside down if you have to
- Don't forget to massage it in
Now, try these hairstyles out for size.
Tousled and Down
Grab your curling tongs and wrap bits around it haphazard. Don't spend more than two minutes on this; it's supposed to look chicly undone. Then, spray your dry shampoo and let there be Kate Moss bedhead goodness.
The Low-Key Low Bun
Do the exact same as the Tousled and Down style, but pull your hair back into a hair tie, letting the front parts hang loose. Before you let it become a ponytail, stop half way and secure with a hair tie.

Pony with a Twist
Spray your hair with your dry shampoo and use your hands instead of a hairbrush to roughly pull your hair into a mid-height ponytail. Remember, with dry shampoo hairstyles, it's all about the texture. Once it's secure, take one small section and wrap it around the top of the pony, hiding the hair tie. Secure with hairslides.
French Fancy
At the base of your neck, twist your hair around your right-hand index finger (if you're right-handed, the opposite if you're not), and pull upwards, twisting as you go. You should end up with a sort of twisted loop, with the ends of your hair at the base of your neck. Tousle the hair on the loop shaft up to create that messy texture and secure with hairslides.
Half a Plait
Spray plenty of dry shampoo at the top of your head for volume. Like with the ponytail style, use your hands to roughly bring your hair back. Secure. Plait using uneven sections of hair, for that messy feel, but stop after three rounds of plaiting. Leave the rest of your hair to fall free. Tug at the plait and backcomb the loose ends.
