Hair Styling Creams: Three We Rate

You've washed and conditioned your hair, you've waited for it to dry, then gave it a blow dry to match a salon pro and then you put some serum or oil through it and it gets totally RUINED! This has happened to me so many times I've lost count. What's even worse is when you put in some super styling stuff before hair drying and it ends up looking like you didn't even wash it in the first place. Grrrrs all round.

It's always a joy when you find a hair styling cream that actually works.

My favourite, every day hair styling cream is one I got free with a magazine. The Percy & Reed Finishing Polish is great! It's lightweight but it has nice hold, it seals horrible spilt ends (of which I have very many) and it leaves a nice glossy finish at the ends. The best thing about it is you only need a teeny tiny amount so it lasts for ages.

It's €13.70 and available from asos.ie (or free with a glossy mag if you keep an eye out!)

One I've come across recently is from Color Wow and it sits on my desk to rescue me from bad hair days. The One Minute Transformation Styling Cream is designed to breathe life into lacklustre locks and it does wonders for my dry ends. Unlike other hair creams where you apply and leave it, you can use this multiple times per day - I think of it as hand cream for hair!

Because I am obsessed with my new, very expensive shampoo from Shu Uemura I had to try their new styling 'treatment', the Shu Uemura Art of Hair Wonder Worker (€27.) So it's not exactly a cream, ok it's not a cream at all, it's a spray that smells of holidays. It promises to do loads of things at once, claiming that it possesses the benefits of a leave in conditioner, it can help detangle unruly hair, it protects from heat and holds style and you can use it on wet or dry hair. Apparently, it's the moringa extract (which explains the beautiful scent) that does it.

I've tried it and it does its job - it tamed frizz and left a nice gloss and it held the style like a very lightweight hair spray would.

It's available from salons nationwide.
