See, I'm just not sure about Gosh Holographic, €8.50.
I bought it about six weeks ago, but it was last week's post about what's lurking in your handbag that shamefacedly reminded me I'd not yet given it a whirl. Cos it was, er, still in my bag.
In the bottle, it's pretty unispiring in certain lights: it just looks like a dull pewter. Let it catch the light, and you can see the potential in the rainbow shimmer that suddenly becomes visible.
In application, it's quite hard to work with. Some bloggers advise no basecoat, some say definitely, you must use it. Ergo with topcoat. I'm lazy, so I went without both and it took a good four thin coats to build it up to what you see above. It's slightly difficult to work with too - the first two layers looked super-streaky and unless you work quickly with a light hand, the brush will move about the coat below, causing bald patches, even if the previous layer is completely dry.

So, I got my four coats on and admired. Yep, it certainly catches the light - and the eye. I kept getting asked what it was. But y'know, I'm just not sure I really like it. I'm lairy of metallics anyway - they generally look crap - and while this definitely looks better than yucky mammy pearly silvers, it doesn't wear brilliantly and has a horrid tendency to peel off in soft gold-leaf alike chunks. Standing up to a yesterday's task of bagging 16 parcels was not an option - it was completely ragged by the end and I had to lash on another couple of coats so I could take these shots. In addition, it will show up any imperfection, ridge or split on your nails to the max.
So, I'm undecided. Is Gosh Holographic a winner or a looser?
