Body scrubbing is like a body facial. We should treat our bodies like we do our faces, we will thank ourselves for it in years to come.
Cheryl Cole once said in an interview that she exfoliates her whole body in the bath twice a week. I may have a little obsession with our Cheryl (who doesn't?), but that has always stuck with me - if it's good enough for Cheryl it's good enough for me! There's so much more surface area to attend to on the body than the face, maybe that's why we neglect it sometimes. Body scrubbing is the main step in giving yourself a DIY body facial, and there are so many benefits to it.
Body exfoliation removes dead skin cells and leaves your skin looking brighter and more vibrant. It will increase blood circulation to the surface of the skin, making your skin look plumped, fresh and healthy. It also increases oxygen flow to the surface layers of the skin. Scrubbing your body will remove dead skin cells and allow your moisturiser to penetrate deeper into your skin.
Body scrubbing can also reduce the appearance of the dreaded dimples in your thighs and butt; the unmentionable cellulite that women have to contend with. Coffee body scrubs are particularly effective in fighting cellulite. Caffeine increases blood flow to the surface of the skin and reduces water retention. The rubbing motions can help to break down fatty deposits and give your skin a smoother, less orange-peel-like surface.
We recommend an all over, head to toe scrub once a week or every other week. Too much scrubbing can damage the surface layers of your skin. It is possible to overdo it. Your skin is delicate so be kind and gentle to it, even when scrubbing.
