Someone the beaut.ie Mammy knows used to say, "I'm not a one...", in front of anything she was a bit iffy about. Me? Well, I'm not a one for lip plumps. I generally like my cosmetics to be without irritants, thankyouvery much, and if I want to put jalapenos on my lips then I'd rather it was by accident than design. But that's actually what some lip plumping products do contain, among other stingy ingredients - chilli. The idea is that your skin is so irritated, it swells, giving you a temporarily inflated trout pout.
So I was a teeny bit sceptical about PureLogicol's new Instant Lip Plumper. Then I tried it. Not remotely like a gloss-based cosmetic plumper, this is a lip-conditioning treat that helps to smooth and plump lips over time, thanks to moisturising and nourishing ingredients like hyaluronic acid microspheres, plant collagen and vitamin E. So if you're a smoker, you can hope to see a reduction in fine lines around the mouth, and if you're thin of lip, its collagen-boosting abilities can help there too. And sting-wise? A gentle tingling is really the height of it - and it lasts for a very short time.
