Foam Party: The New Hair Dye From L'Oreal Paris Casting & Nice 'N Easy Colour Blend

foam dyes from clairol and l'oreal paris

Listen up, dye fans, cos here's the next big thing in home hair colouring: foam.

Yup, out with messy, drippy creams and liquids and in with nice soft fluffy foamy goodness.  Big in Japan apparently (where much of our beauty inspiration seems to stem from), the advantage of foam and mousse colourants is that you don't need 90 spare hands to wrangle an applicator into your partings, so it's all a little easier to manage yourself, sans contortions.

Shake or mix the colorants into the supplied bottle and then express out - special nozzles diffuse the fluid dye into pillowy piles, making it far easier to apply. Once you begin to massage it into hair, it transforms back to a liquid so you can move it about.

Out now from Clairol is Nice 'N Easy Colour Blend Foam and L’Oréal Paris Sublime Mousse by Casting.  Both claim to cover 100% of greys so we can firmly place this pair in the permanent/demi-permanent sphere, meaning they are not wash-in, wash-out dyes.  You commit to stuff like this!

Nice 'N Easy is available in 18 shades at €8.65 and Sublime Mousse by Casting costs €10.99 with 12 shades in the lineup. For at-home dyehards, it's another element of choice - always good in times when salon trips are the last thing you can afford.

Obviously, if you've highlights or a dye job that needs a lot of tricky managing, it's generally not possible to maintain in a DIY-stylee, but if you just want to do a basic job, then both of these are on sale at very affordable prices.

So, have you given a foam colourant a go yet? And if not, does this pique your interest?
