I love pretty makeup bags as much as I love beautiful handbags, but as with handbags, I'm always thinking about how useful they are in terms of how I can sort my stuff out inside them. Paul & Joe's makeup pouch was an expensive purchase at the time, but it's turned out to be more than worth the investment. Designed like a Filofax, it includes two removable zip-up pouches, one mesh and one in the same pretty fabric as the main pouch, along with another pocket inside one side of the bag, and a section for holding brushes on the other side of the bag. Perfect for organising the makeup I use on a daily basis and also for travelling, I can easily locate the product I need on opening the bag, without having to pull everything out to find that pencil or lipstick that might otherwise be lurking at the bottom of a normal makeup bag.

The prettiness factor can't be denied either. The pouch I own has a Parisian theme, but the versions currently available (from HQhair or from Urban Outfitters stores or Seagreen in Monkstown) include lovely vintage-feel floral patterns taken from the Paul & Joe fashion line.
