So apparently 'Thread Lifts' are the latest non-surgical cosmetic procedure celebrities are loving at the moment. Here's everything you need to know about this latest celebrity beauty trend.
What is a thread lift?
A thread lift is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that can be done on the face and neck.
It involves inserting a small, dissolvable thread into the skin with a needle.
Once inserted under the skin this thread can then "grab hold of the skin from the under surface and pull to re-suspend the skin in a lifted, more youthful position" plastic surgeon Norman Rowe told Allure.
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic and recovery time is generally one to two days, to allow any swelling or bruising to fade.
The treatment can last up to six months, however, dermatologist Shereene Idriss told Cosmopolitan she "would never recommend [getting thread lifts] more than two times a year, max".
If you want to know exactly what's involved in a thread lift procedure you can watch Hudda Kattan's video in which she documents getting a number of different non-surgical cosmetic procedures.
This includes getting thread lifts on her jawline.

Why are they popular?
Thread lifts are popular as they are a cheaper, temporary and non-surgical alternative to a facelift.
They're a simple solution for those showing early signs of ageing who are looking for a quick and effective solution.
A thread lift around the eye area also allows you to achieve that cat-eye look which has become a key component of the "Instagram face".
Just think of celebrities like the Kardashian-Jenners, the Hadid sisters and Hudda Kattan if you're not sure what the "Instagram face" is.
It's important to remember that you don't need to cosmetically alter your face to fit in with a fleeting trend.
Yes, this very specific type of face is on-trend/popular now but it will be replaced by something else soon.

So I would highly discourage anyone from getting a thread lift if it's for the sole purpose of trying to fit in with current beauty standards.
