Obviously there's no one beauty product that everyone is going to love equally.
But when it comes to a classic that's been around for years and is frequently name-checked as a best beauty buy, it feels very disappointing to use it... and hate it.
I've felt this way about various products, from Carmex Lip Balm (which somehow made my lips drier than ever before) to L'Occitane Shea Butter Handcream (even when I got past the fragrance, I didn't find this very moisturising at all).

And my most recent disappointment has been Lancôme Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover.
This dual-phase makeup remover has been around for years and promises to include all makeup, even waterproof, without upsetting sensitive eyes. I generally stick to my beloved La Roche-Posay Toleriane eye makeup remover. But one fateful day recently I discovered I'd run out so I turned to a trial-size bottle of Bi-Facil that had been lurking in my bathroom cabinet for a while.
The two separated shades of blue look so pretty in the bottle and the resulting mix certainly did the job in removing my eye makeup, but argh the film it left on my eyes afterwards was so irritating! I'm so used to the Toleriane wiping completely clean without leaving any residue that I really couldn't tolerate the fuzzy vision and horrible coated feeling that I had to deal with for a good few minutes after cleansing. And I certainly don't think I overdid it when soaking the cotton pad.
Adding insult to injury, when I could finally see clearly enough to look at my eyes in the mirror, they were clean of makeup alright, but also horribly dry and crepey-looking. Both the upper lid and the under-eye area looked awful and I can only imagine how bad they would look if I was using this product constantly.

It's clearly working for plenty of other people though. Are you a Bi-Facil fan? Or have you been similarly disappointed by a product everyone else seems to love?
