DIY Fake Tanning Disasters: Solutions

tangoed

Yup, we've all been there. Oh, the horror when you realise that your last-minute pre-holiday panic tanning was actually as slapdash as you suspected it might have been. Or you've done one of many other things: used last years tanner, which you've realised has now gone off, or perhaps you forgot to wash it off your hands, and now you've got weird, mad looking palms?

You can buy products to remove fake tan but you do need to use them pretty quickly to get a good result. So, is there anything you might have lurking round the gaff that might help? Yup - lemon juice is your friend. Squeeze a lemon and wipe the juice over tangoed skin - the acid in the juice helps cut the colour. Sea salt also works. If you've ever swum in the sea and noticed that your tan got lost somewhere in the briny, then you can work that effect at home too. Run yourself a bath, pour natural rock salt in there and sit for 10 minutes.

Or you can try a facial or body exfoliator too - look for one with fine, smooth grains and scrub up a storm. I like Estee Lauder's Perfectly Clean exfoliator for this as it's pumicey, nice n' scrubby and effective.
