Pardon the smushed state of the crown embossing atop of this new Rimmel Colour Rush mono shadow in 101 Glam Rock, €5.23. You see, I didn't believe it wasn't one of those pesky oversprays the brand seem to be fond of using on occasion, so I had a good dig to confirm my suspicion.
Which was unfounded as it happens, and then I had a finger full of well-pigmented, creamy, sparkly metallic almost-black shadow. So I put it on my eyelids, of course. I will whole-heartedly confess to not really having a lot of time for the brand's shadows generally. They're ok - they're very well priced, of course - but with so many other nicer shadow products at my disposal, a Rimmel offering will pretty much always be at the end of the list.
But this is genuinely good - and yes, I know this has been a bit of a week of shadow swatches - and so I thought it deserved a post. While it looks like a glimmering grey in the shot, lets take a closer look, shall we?

It's very dark grey, sparkly, metallic and with a few little weeny particles of some other shades in there. Close-up scrutiny of this on my hand revealed an occasional tiny metallic red particle and a good bit of silver. It's very creamy - even lightly pressing on the pan transfers off a lot of colour, so be careful when applying this as you will get some shedding.
Swatches: nice, eh? But y'know ... it really reminded me of something else. Some other shadow ... that I'd had for a long time ... that's a bit of a cult classic ... oh what could it be?
AHA!
What this fairly closely resembles is Urban Decay's Oil Slick shadow. It's not identical so it's not a 100% dupe, but it's not bad. Not bad at all. Take a look:

Oil Slick has a firmer texture, a blacker base and more multi-coloured glitter in it. And dare I say it, my one above - which is ancient in fairness - doesn't swatch or wear half as nicely as Rimmel's 101 Glam Rock. So there you go now!
