Summer is always a good time to experiment with your makeup, especially when you’re on holiday (or wish you were!).
This season there’s plenty of colourful makeup out there to play with, from rich reds to sea green, pink and tangerine. So, why not bring a little tropical feel to your look by adding a splash of something bright and bold this summer?
To get you started here are a few of our current favourites.
- NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows €27
Blue is the colour of the season in the fashion world, and of the many varieties that are available for SS16 these two limited edition Dual Intensity eye shadow shades from NARS (which can be worn wet or dry depending on the depth of colour your want) are my favourites.
Pool Shark is a soft, shimmering periwinkle blue that looks particularly beautiful on green or deep brown eyes. Deep End is an iridescent teal which will flatter blue, grey and hazel eyes.
- Sleek True Colour Lipsticks €6.49

There’s nothing that says summer quite like wearing a pair of sunglasses and a bright lipstick. Tangerine Scream, Papaya Punch and Amped from Sleek’s True Colour range are the types of shades that will stand out from the crowd, especially if you have a bit of a tan.
- Inglot AMC Gel Liners €15
Eyeliner is a great way to add a little cheeky pop of colour to your look without having to commit too much. You can keep it simple with a thin line of white across the lid, or go bold with a winged sweep of yellow – the world is your oyster. It can be hard to find eyeliners that really deliver on the colour front, though, which is why I love the Inglot ones so much.
You get a lot of bang for your buck with these, and there are plenty of shades to choose from. I recently created a paint effect look for a shoot using the Inglot AMC liners so you can see how bright and bold they can look.
- Too Faced Melted Lipsticks €23
If you don’t really love the feel of lipstick but still want to wear a bright colour, then these are ideal. The texture is really smooth and melts into lips (hence the name!) so it feels like there’s nothing on at all. I love Fuschia, an unapologetically brash pink, but there are also some beautiful reds, corals and nudes in the collection as well.
