A beaut.ieous reader contacted us with regard to a very common dilemma. She bought a shirt dress recently and loves it, but her problem is that she keeps getting underarm sweat patches, especially in hot crowded pubs and after doing a bit of dancing. She's seen a product on What Not To Wear called Perspi Shield and wondered what we thought of it.
Well firstly, I totally sympathise! I just don't understand how some people don't seem to sweat! If I have a top on that's tight under the sleeves, I'm constantly checking for patches. Life, so hard. Anyway, I looked at the Perspi Sheild website and the first thing you see is mean photos of celebs with sweaty pits! The poor feckers - but I suppose at least it's reassuring to see that they sweat just like us mere mortals.
They offer a few different types of products - most are use once, throw away types but you can also buy re-usable dress shields which would be brilliant for silk dresses or anything that might easily stain, cost a fortune to dry clean or which really shows sweat patches. The disposables seem pretty useful too - there are patches you attach to your clothing and ones you stick directly onto your underarm skin. Both prevent sweat from seeping through and both block odour. You use them in conjunction with your regular deoderant or anti-perspirant and they won't show under clothing.

I think for a big night out they'd be a great investment - they're probably a bit pricey to use every day though - the stick on ones are £6.99 + P&P for 6 pairs, so that's not even a weeks supply.
If you're still concerned about sweating, there are good heavy-duty anti-perspirant products you can buy from the chemist or on prescription from your doctor. You apply them at night and they can be really effective.
Or you could go the whole hog and have your armpits botoxed - apparently this is favoured by celebs as it completely stops underarm sweating for months at a time. Pricey though!
