Tuning into the first episode of The Model Scouts on RTE last Tuesday, I snuggled myself on the couch hoping for shenanigans to rival crazy Tyra, or the goings on at Australia's Next Top Model.
But it was not to be... yet. On the search for Ireland's next top model , the two American Model Scout gurus (industry talent scouts) were both extremely polite and very careful not to say anything to cause offence. Apart from the time when they got a bit pissed on red wine and declared the Darndale accent adorable, they didn't say anything crazy. While it was obvious they didn't think much of the Irish modeling industry they remained inscrutable and didn't say anything indiscreet. But they should have! That's what makes good telly!
There was a bit of a problem with the shortness of Irish teenagers, but happily this wasn't too big of a deal and plenty of tall girls were "discovered".

One comment they did make regularly though, was on the state of the eyebrows being presented to them. They were mad for big eyebrows. "She'll be okay when her eyebrows grow in" and "Let your eyebrows grow back" were popular comments that were met with gasps of incredulity from the auditionees.
So are we as a nation guilty of overplucking? Is it time to trade in those tweezers? What do you think?
