Set the scene. You've spent forty minutes applying your makeup, blending to perfection. Foundation has been buffed on, every inch set with powder. You've carved out your cheekbones with your very best contouring technique, the apples of your cheeks have just a touch of blush. Now it's time to add that glow. You want a beautiful creamy sheen on your cheeks that will catch the light and make you look lit. But, there lies the problem; what if the creamy highlight wipes off a patch of foundation, as it so often can?

The best way to apply a liquid highlighter like this one or Benefit's High Beam is with your fingers or a soft, short-haired powder brush. You don't want to apply too much pressure so that it mixes with the foundation and moves it.
How to apply liquid highlighter

1. Apply a small amount of product, two or three dots to the area you want to highlight
2. Work quickly with the product. Don't allow it to dry
3. With your fingers, use a gentle patting motion as you slowly glide your fingers across the skin to spread the product evenly
4. Use a light touch so as not to press the product right into your foundation
5. If you prefer to use a brush, use a soft-haired, slanted contour brush
6. In the same way as you use your fingers, apply a couple of drops of the liquid onto the skin. Less is more; use just a little product. You can always apply more to build up the sheen. Use the brush very lightly but quickly buff the cream across the skin.
