Summer is by far my favourite time of the year. We get some sun, time to relax and can be a little bit more loose with routine.
But one thing you should not do is be any more relaxed with your summer skincare routine. In fact, during the summer months, you should be even more strict with taking care of your skin.
UVA/UVB rays are harmful all year long but are especially damaging during the summer month when our exposure levels are higher due to being outdoors more than usual.
So it is important to add more SPF and general heat protection to your regular skincare routine.
Here is a guide of things you should be using during the summer months
SPF
We have said it time and time again but SPF is hugely important in any skincare routine. UVA/UVB rays are present all year round, even on cloudy days. During the summer months, it is especially important to have a good quality SPF. Even if you're only in and out to the shops you should be applying it on your face, neck and chest. Always remember the backs of your hands too! They can age you!!

Lips
Even if you are meticulous with your SPF application, one area most forget is the lips. The skin on the lips is so thin it can be easily damaged by the sun. Skin cancer can also appear on any part of the body so it is vital you protect your lips frequently throughout the day with an SPF lip balm.
Spritz
Again, it is important to keep the skin hydrated all year round but again it’s even more important when the warm weather and even air-conditioning can be extra dehydrating. Invest in a facial mist and use it a couple of times a day to give your face 'a drink'
Insect Bites
If you're prone to insect bites you will know bites can itch and linger for weeks after they become inflamed. If you happen to get a sting, Hydrocortisone, Anti-Itch Cream cream twice daily until itching resolves. This can help with inflammation and scarring to the skin.

Don't Forget Your Hands
The thin skin on your hands wrinkles and pigments easily, it is one sure area that can prematurely age you. Use SPF on the back of your hands daily. There are many brands on the market that shield hands from UVA/UVB rays while fully absorbing into the skin for a quick non-greasy finish.
