What to wear the day you get engaged
The day you get engaged is unique to your situation. But if you can get changed, here's what you might want to wear.
It's obvious. The outfit to wear the day you get engaged is the outfit you'll be wearing when the question is popped. But, that is only one moment in what should hopefully be hours of celebration. And you're allowed change. (Clothes, that is.)
What you wear the moment you get engaged will depend on a multitude of factors. You could be in hiking gear. Maybe you're on holiday and you're wearing your togs. You could be in nothing but your birthday suit... When my now husband proposed, I was wearing years old pyjamas and a raggedy dressing gown. I had greasy hair, no makeup on and was wearing ancient glasses because I couldn't find my usual pair. I looked a state, quite frankly, but I didn't care one bit. I even posed for photos - and I never do unless I have at least some mascara on. The moment of your engagement is a surreal, mad, extremely happy one (if you're lucky), and it doesn't matter where you are or what you're wearing. BUT, if you're reading this, you would still rather look good for celebration photos.
What to wear
If you're on holidays, you'll have a limited choice but you'll likely have something nice packed away. Wear that! But if you're left alone with the forest of clothes that is your wardrobe, here's my recommendation. Get dressed up. But wear your favourite dress, jeans and top combo or jumpsuit, something that you feel really good in. You don't have to wear something trendy or 'now' or white, in fact, it's better if you don't. Something classic or semi-classic will age better for photos.
How about the hair and makeup

If you're thinking about the distant future, again, think classic. Do natural-ish makeup and whatever lip you feel most comfortable with. As for hair, a bun style or boho waves should both stand the test of time.
Should you get a manicure?
Get one if you want one. If you don't, don't. I do recommend having clean nails, though and filed edges are always good.
If I'm honest, I can't remember what I changed into the day I got engaged even though we got engaged in the morning and had the entire day and night to celebrate. There are pictures, but they're not as precious as the memories, and that's the bottom line.
The social media question
To post or not to post. And what to post? Yes, people get annoyed with 'I said yes' posts, but, whatever, it's your life - you do you. I think the nicest engagement announcements on social media are the ones with happy, in the moment, smiling faces - you don't even have to show the ring. Staged pictures are cringe, but if you're into it, just do it.
What did you wear the day you got engaged? Do you think it matters?
