Glamour and Gold at River Island Next Season: Sigh, We Want it All NOW
Let me take you away from your daily grind for a minute.
Sit back, close your eyes and imagine a world filled with winter floral prints, plush faux furs, a calming palette of stone wash grey and retro pastels hailing from the sixties. It sounds exciting doesn't it? And given how cold it was this morning, it also sounds positively cosy….
This is the place where River Island will take you with it's Autumn Winter 2014 collection (I know, we've been talking a lot about Autumn Winter this past week or two. We're just determined to keep you ahead of the fash pack). The fabrics and palettes are rich but still with elements of light - overall, is just looks damn opulent.
The brand is doing what it does best, and that's delivering key trends (as well as setting them). The look is edgy and a one that I can envisage appearing on every street style site come Autumn.
So what collections will be vying for your attention and pennies very soon?
- The "Preppy" collection is youthful and loud. Expect plenty of clashing prints and patterns, accessorised with gold costume jewellery.

- The contemporary "Luxe Traveller" dabbles in folklore for inspiration. It has a bohemian vibe, full of warm patterns like check in a natural palette (oh of it was only available for festival season. Grrr).
- Tailoring is a key trend, with monochrome reappearing (does it ever go away?) with splashes of gold and red. In stark contrast, the colder palette of grey will also be a major trend. Pair everything from dove to metal grey with clean lines to form the perfect work wardrobe next season.
- And glamour comes in the form of metallics, mixed with jacquard and leather.
If you are feeling all cosy at your desk and want to explore the new collection, you can do so from August at River Island stores and online.
