Get ready to relive the '70s with the best style trend of the year
We KNEW keeping those knee-high boots was a brilliant idea. The best style trend of all the autumns is back this year, and we're all going to look amazing
Back in my college days, I used to wear a pair of boots that my mother rejected in the 1980s. They were knee-high, tan, properly vintage and a size too small. Quite frequently, I forced my feet into them a la an ugly sister. They would rip the skin right off my heel, and still, I wore them, over jeans mostly, like Farrah Fawcett in her Charlie's Angels days.
The knee high boots over tight jeans thing originated in the 1970s but came back again in the 2000s. Of course, horse riders have been sporting the look forever, and according to Jilly Cooper it serves them well, so I, for one, will not be throwing away any skinnies anytime soon. I won't be recycling my mother's boots again because my big fat hooves eventually poked holes through the front AND back. But luckily I got a replacement pair in 2004 from River Island that will live to stomp another day, even though they're not quite right for Boots 'n' Jeans 2.2.
For 2017, the boots and jeans thing is going back to its '70s roots, but we're talking Studio 54 here, not romps with a stable boy. The skinnier the jeans, the better, and that boot needs a slouch.
You can thank YSL for bringing this kind of sexy back.
Penneys will release a pair of sparkly slouch boots just like those later on in autumn. But, if you want to get on the trend while everyone is getting the most out of their summer dresses, these slouchy boots are available now.
