Friday Fashion: It's Time to Ditch the Dark
She's come a long way since her Corrie days, and Michelle Keegan has graduated into a fully fledged style maven. This week she's been spotted wearing the hot new trend of yellow, albeit in a fabulous summer dress from Irish designer Orla Kiely.
On her way to film with Alan Carr for his show Chatty Man, we couldn't help but lust for her summery floaty dress. Oh so floaty. Now Michelle's dress has a nice price tag to go with it, so you know us, we've got the more..ahem..affordable bits and pieces for you get your hands on.
Yellow is not the easiest shade to wear, but thankfully with an array of shades to choose from we can get the perfect shade for our tones.
Hair colour is the key factor as it determines the shade choice entirely as opposed to skin tone. Bright blondes can wear darker shades like deep hues that are almost cream (think sunshine yellow here) and mustard.
Brunettes and red heads are a good compliment for lemon tones and brighter variations.

If the plain shades are not your thing, then we need to give you some options for prints. Yellow works beautifully with darker shades like navy and chocolate browns, and with the right balance, even emerald green. Prints are great for summer holliers, and if you add a splash of yellow, you are right on trend.
H&M have some amazing prints this season, all under €100. From Maxis to midis to shirt suits they have you covered, and not all the pieces are too bright that you need sunglasses. Mustard makes an appearance in their prints which makes the look more subtle; they're use of navy is a great way to make the colour a lot more wearable.
What do you think of yellow? Is it practical given our Irish summers, or lack thereof? Share your sunshine-coloured thoughts!
