British Soap Awards 2014: Did You Catch All the Red Carpet Looks? And Who Knew THEY Were a Real-Life Couple?

I'm thinking of setting up a red carpet-hire business because the shimmy'ing sequins and sashaying silks are trundling up those carpets like nobody's business these days. We are in full flow of Awards Season and guests at The British Soap Awards were no exception, scrubbing behind their ears and putting their best platform-shoe'd foot forward.

And we've decided to take a look at some of the main looks that our TV starlets embraced…so grab a coffee and take a seat in the FROW there.

• Get Shorty

Our pick of the pins goes to Emmerdale's Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper). Now, anyone else in this ensemble might not have been as lucky but she gets away with it given she's a teenager. And a Dingle.

Nikki Sanderson of Hollyoaks opted for the mullet dress, the kinda one that we wouldn't have been surprised to see Kim wearing up the aisle.

• Sheer

We're used to seeing chiffon skirts over minis at the moment, and Debbie Dingle off Emmerdale (Charley Webb) does pull it off with flair. But some additional accessories like chandelier ear-rings would've given this real oomph.

Lauren from EastEnders (Jacqueline Jossa) opted to go for sheer lunacy (apologies) by just employing a few feathers to cover her modesty. We do think this one might be one for the smaller chested though, I feel like I'm invading her privacy by looking at her.

Matching Couples

Who knew these two were married? Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) pulls off the sky blue number, while Rhona's (Zoe Henry) has decided to pay homage to Jack and Vera's old wallpaper . But we really appreciate the change of hairstyle for the occasion - we're kind of over the 'Rhona Rehab hair' at this point.

And who could blame Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright for trying to have a Brad and Angelina moment.

• Hollywood Glamour 

Onscreen sisters Leyla and Alesha from Emmerdale (Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi and Natalie Anderson) fall into this small-screen siren category, with the latter looking über excited to be there.

Then again, she is a new mum, and therefore probably just beside herself just to be out of the house.

• Cleavage Heavage

We always knew Moira off Emmerdale (Natalie J Robb) was particularly blessed in that department...

However, we had NO idea Sinead off Corrie (Katie McGlynn)was hiding these under her checked shirts.

• Statement Style

There are plenty of folk who conform to the red carpet norm of 'plunging neckline, fake tan and coiffed hair', and then there are those who dance to their own tune.

Hats off to Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley off Corrie) and Lorna Fitzgerald (Abi off EastEnders).

• And Finally...Look At Me, I'm Not Wearing a Bra

Seriously, Ms Metcalfe, you're a very pretty girl but we're finding it hard to look you in the eye.
