The three key fashion trends for #SS16
Spring has sprung, as evidenced by that sunshiny day we're basking in at the moment. Sure, it's still a bit nippy but it's bright and beautiful and we're ready to throw off our woollies for once and for all. Our minds are firmly fixed on long summer evenings, and balmier days to come, and with that in mind some of our favourite retailers have presented their SS16 collections to us over the last few days.
There are some standout themes that are appearing across all of the collections and we've selected three of our favourites for you to peruse.
- '90s/grunge
Our nostalgia antennae are on red alert for this one; we happen to remember this retro trend the first time around. From spaghetti strap slip dresses, to form fitted knits, stripes, dungarees and a nod to grunge with denim, it's all back with a bang. Look out for brands such as Fila popping up on a street near you soon.
- Romantic Victorian

Think lace, high collars, ruffles and military inspired outerwear. Embroidery is also key, and more is more. Be careful that you don't stray into the realm of fancy dress though, this trend has most definitely been polished up for 2016. Add your skinny jeans and heels to your high neck ruffle blouse, or layer shirts and dresses to take them from evening wear to day wear.
- '70s retro
The fashion industry's obsession with all things retro continues with their focus on the decade that brought us Charlie's Angels and platform shoes, but rather than being disco inspired, this is a more casual look. Think high-waist denim flares and cute white tees. Let That '70s Show be your influence.
Yes, we think a spot of retail therapy is on the cards. As seen above, there are loads of stores to hit up on the high street, but if you want to do a little shopping online, Littlewoods Ireland is full of these looks, or if you prefer the personal touch, head into Dundrum Town Centre where you can even book an appointment with their Personal Style Team.
Have any of these trends grabbed your attention? Have you anything lying around from the first time they were in style?
